ExxonMobil - Harris Foundation - Math and Science Scholarships
The ExxonMobil Bernard Harris Math and Science Scholarships were established to encourage minority students to pursue degrees & careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
These scholarships support students who plan to pursue math‐ and science‐related degrees.
Four scholarships for two boys and two girls, with a value of $5,000 each, will be awarded to two African American and two Hispanic students currently completing their senior year of high school in a member district of the Council of the Great City Schools (see website for list of member districts).
Applicants must be accepted for full‐time enrollment at a four‐ year college or university in the next academic year, and pursuing a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM).
Applications will be judged by a committee appointed by the Council of the Great City Schools. Recipients will be notified by early summer.
2010 Scholarships will be paid to the university and can be applied to tuition and related expenses during the 2010‐2011 academic year.
Applicants must be graduating seniors and African American or Hispanic
2010 Deadline is: May 14, 2010
Applicants should include evidence of academic achievement in high school, leadership skills or community service in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics and the applicant’s commitment to pursue a career in a STEM field.
To be eligible for the scholarship, the applicant must have a minimum 3.0 unweighted grade point average and have been accepted as a full‐time student at a four‐ year institution of higher education.
No person may receive more than one award administered by the Council of the Great City Schools in the same academic year.
Employees or immediate family members of employees of ExxonMobil, The Harris Foundation, or the Council of the Great City Schools are not eligible to apply for these scholarships.
